posted by JOJO @ 2:26 AMAsk anybody who has spoken to me once, twice or many times. The first adjective that comes to their mind when they thought of me would be...
Soft-spoken.
Yes, I do admit I was born to be introvert, quiet and less-words. I used to be so so quiet that I always listen, I didn't utter a word for a 15-mins conversation. But somebody taught me to walk out from my own little world, participate in conversations and make my voice audible. I don't think I'd succeed in being fully extrovert, outgoing and talketive to date. However, I believe there have been improvements here and there. The range of people I get more outspoken with, are expanding ..like the width of my waist. HAHA!
To be frank, some of the people who knew me in real-life first questioned me with a raised eyebrow, "Why are you so enthu in virtual world, but so quiet back then?". Perhaps, it boils down to my level of self-esteem all along. I realised, if we could take away eye contact and identity, I could blabber non-stop and definitely leave a great impression on people. But once both of those factors are in existence, I'd feel that there's a need to be wary of my own actions, and words. To minimize the risk of being a fool, or sound like one.
I'm not too sure how many of you in this world are like me. Though I am sure I'm not the only one.
You know, being soft-spoken and talking lesser hasn't been that bad after all. That could possibly gives us a social disadvantage, but we absorbed more, learnt more and think more. We don't speak, do not necessary means that we do not care, or we don't know.
Anyhow. I believe words are not invented just for the pleasure of it. We should speak up more often, talk about things and not let it snowballed to something we could no longer tame.
Then again, what are words if you really don't mean them when you say them?
